Who Am I?
A 20 year old part time lifeguard and student. Full time music lover, dedicated to promoting the best of the new, and highlighting the best of the old.
Welcome to Art of the Mixtape! Hopefully if you’ve made it this far, you have a slight inkling of what this site is all about and what it stands for. This ain’t no collective, just a simple one-man music blog. I’ve pretty much always known I had a love for music, my earliest memories being that of listening to The Harder They Come, the soundtrack from the movie of the same title starring Jimmy Cliff, on a walkman when I was about 4. Soon, my taste for music latched on to The Beatles, and people who know me would say I never looked back. Arguably, The Beatles were more fascinating to me in my youth than friends, girls, and the English language, I have memories of waking up at 6 in the morning, taking my parent’s stereo, and sitting at the kitchen counter listening to the Red (1962-1966) and Blue (1967-70) Compilation albums. I was completely immersed, and I shunned the popular music swarming around me at that age. The Beatles became a shelter from all the N’SYNC, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears bullcrap. While most kids around me are either trying to erase those musical memories, or admitting a guilty pleasure in them nowadays, all I have from those times are Beatles songs and lyrics, almost committed to picturesque memory. But tastes develop, and mine were no different, with the advancement of the internet and my age, I began to delve into more and more music, striving with almost an obsessive passion to seek out new favorites and new loves. So this blog is my gift in response to all the wonderful music I’ve discovered, to pay it back as best I can. Music is written by the people and for the people and supported by people. So enjoy the blog and if you have any comments or suggestions feel free to ask.
I also like the Beatles and the Police
